Animal fibre
A soft undercoat fibre from yaks, comparable to cashmere in warmth and fineness. An emerging luxury fibre with roots in Himalayan and Mongolian textile traditions.
Origin & Production
Combed or shed naturally from the undercoat of domesticated yaks (Bos grunniens) in Mongolia, Tibet, and Central Asia. The down-like undercoat is separated from coarser outer hair.

Common Uses
Sustainability
Yaks are well-adapted to harsh climates and graze on wild pastures with low environmental impact. The fibre is shed or combed naturally. Emerging as a more sustainable alternative to cashmere.
Care Instructions
Hand wash in cool water (max 20 °C) with gentle detergent.
Lay flat on a towel to dry. Never tumble dry.
Steam from a distance. Avoid direct contact.
